Jill Tondu, a much-loved member of the Chicago animal rescue community, recently passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 48 years old.
Jill was one of the founding members of Be Fido’s Friend, a small foster-based rescue organization started in 2011. Her main responsibility as a board member was event planning – among other things, she initiated the popular annual Halloween Walk and the Valentine’s Day Event at the Bucktown Pub. When she wasn’t rescuing dogs (she was particularly fond of “the littles” and fostered many chihuahuas), she was a co-owner at FonduTV, performed as karaoke DJ Jilly Star, did voiceovers for commercials, and worked with Whole Foods.
Jill loved and talked to everyone, and tried to help as many people and animals as she could. Her kind soul and bright spirit will be greatly missed.
Memorial donations can be made to Be Fido’s Friend.
